The Post-it Challenge: Boost Executive Function with TGD Coaching Tips

We’re trying out a newsletter format this month: The TGD! Each week, we’ll send you a TIP, a way to GROW your mindset, and a link to our blog where you can DIVE deep into the science behind the topic.

This month, Hannah takes us on a deep dive into the science of learning with a brief literature review on the value of spaced practice for memory consolidation.

As we grow our coaching practice, we'd love your help - the end of this message has 3 quick ways you can help. Thank you for being part of our coaching family!

The TGD

TIP: Try The Post-It Challenge!

Within the first 10 minutes of coming home, immediately perform a "Brain Dump" by writing down the most important concept, one confusing term, and one question from today's hardest class onto three Post-it Notes. Hand the Post-its to a parent for a quick review and high-five, officially completing your first crucial retrieval session before forgetting begins. The parent then uses the confusing term for a spaced review later in the week.

GROW: Shift your mindset

The use of Post-its makes the mandatory retrieval session feel quick, physical, and easy, dramatically lowering the barrier to starting. The parent high-five reinforces the partnership you share with your child on their learning journey.

DIVE: Dive deep into the research!
